R.I.P. Roger Ebert 1942-2013
“‘Kindness covers all of my political beliefs. No need to spell them out. I believe that if, at the end, according to our abilities, we have done something to make others a little happier, and something to make ourselves a little happier, that is about the best we can do. To make others less happy is a crime. To make ourselves unhappy is where all crime starts. We must try to contribute joy to the world. That is true no matter what our problems, our health, our circumstances. We must try. I didn't always know this and am happy I lived long enough to find it out."
Roger Ebert from his autobiography, Life Itself: A Memoir.

Mad For Film With FilmMad Society
Hey folks, If you're mad about film like I am, please be sure to check out my friend Freddy's podcast, FilmMad Society
Each week Freddy and a guest tackle a movie considered to be one of the best by a consensus of critics worldwide. This week Freddy was kind enough to offer me the opportunity to discuss Kar Wai Wong's masterpiece of understated desire and social politics, In The Mood For Love (2000).
It was a great experience watching the film, having never seen it before, and being on the show. Kar Wai Wong is a magnificent director and one worth discovery. Many of his films, including In The Mood For Love, are currently available for streaming on Netflix here in the U.S., so be sure to check them out and if you can, take a listen to the podcast and let us know what you think
If you like what you hear, be sure to check out the other episodes of FilmMad Society featuring many great films and indepth discussions with a variety of guests. And also be sure to check out Freddy's other weekly gig, coralling those loveable miscreants of the Night of the Living Podcast. Freddy and the NOTLP gang are dear friends, and I'd like to thank them for encouraging me to resurrect this site after too long a hiatus. If you're ever at a HorrorHound Weekend convention, be sure to stop by their booth. You'll never find a nicer group of people.
You can find FilmMad society on libsyn (see the link above) or on iTunes.

1st Person Action Insanity - Insane Office Escape parts 1 & 2
Directed by Ilya Naishuller for his band Biting Elbows, these videos are jaw-droppingly crazy. If you're an action film junkie and always wondered just what it would be like to ride shotgun in Jason Statham or Donny Yen's head, well here's your chance. This video combines both the video for Biting Elbow's 2011 song "Stampede," a.k.a. Insane Office Escape part 1 with the band's latest release "Bad Motherfucker," Insane Office Escape part 2.
Not only is the action intense, but that MacGuffin is pretty awesome too. Hollywood better snap up Mr. Naishuller and get him under contract quick! He could be the adrenaline shot to the heart that U.S. action movies are in such desperate need for these days.
And if you dig the music, check Biting Elbows out on iTunes. https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/biting-elbows/id457010973

"Eye" Spy - Spy in Your Eye
We'll leave you today with the trailer to this swanky 60's cyber-spy flick "Spy in Your Eye," featuring Brett Halsey, Pier Angeli, and the assassination of Kenny Rogers at the :59 second mark. Dig that base line too, a staple of all good spy flicks. I haven't seen the film, but it looks like a hoot! Could this be the first entry in the genre of cyborg cinema?
